Three Islands in One: Our 24-Hour Luxury Stay at Sun Siyam Olhuveli Resort!

Hi, travellers! We decided to treat ourselves to a very special experience at the amazing **Sun Siyam Olhuveli Resort** in the Maldives. This huge resort is actually made up of three separate islands—the **Main Island**, the **Dream Island**, and the adults-only **Romance Island**! Getting here was part of the adventure, as we took a speedy 45-minute boat ride from Male.

We only had 24 hours to see everything, so we were excited to start exploring! Our friends at the resort told us that this place is so big, you need a bus or buggy to get around, as the reception is about 3–4 kilometers away from some of the rooms!

Our Grand Water Villa on Dream Island

We stayed in a **Grand Water Villa** on the **Dream Island**. Our villa was the very last one in the row, which meant we had a totally private, breathtaking view of the sea! The villa was huge and luxurious. It had a big king-sized bed, an extra bed for Elina, and plenty of space to relax.

The bathroom was especially nice, with two separate chambers for the shower and commode, a huge bathtub, and two wash basins so we could brush our teeth at the same time. The best part, of course, was the **massive balcony**, which had sunbeds and direct access to the clear, shallow water. The water was so beautiful and light blue!

Sunset Tours and Resort Fun

We started our resort tour in the late afternoon when the sun was low—it was too hot to walk around at 2:00 p.m.! The resort is so big that a shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes to take guests around. The atmosphere at sunset was just beautiful, with soft light hitting the ocean.

We found the **Kids’ Club** right away, where children over three years old can play alone. Since Elina is younger, we would have needed to hire a babysitter for $25 per hour, so Kasun happily stayed with her while I went exploring! We found out that you can rent bikes to explore the island, too. We saw a dive center where you can rent snorkeling equipment, and they said there are even beautiful corals right behind the center—you don’t always need a boat to see them!

💡 Tip:

If you have young children (under three) at Sun Siyam, you can hire a babysitter from the staff for around **$25 per hour**, or one parent can stay in the Kids’ Club with the child.

The Romance Island and Amazing Amenities

We crossed a beautiful bridge to visit the **Romance Island**, which is **adults-only**! This island is perfect for couples who want peace and quiet, without any children’s noise. It has its own infinity pool, a separate bar, and a waterfront Japanese restaurant. Everything there is designed to be romantic, including a special heart-shaped light setup on the roof!

We also checked out the **Ocean Spa**, where all eight treatment rooms are beautiful water villas built over the ocean. The treatment beds even have a glass panel so you can look down at the ocean while getting a massage! All the rooms here are double rooms for couples’ treatments.

Manta Rays and Morning Adventures

Dinner was a huge, delicious buffet with so many choices! While we were eating, we saw something amazing: a **Manta Ray** came close to the dive center area! We had seen stingrays before, but the staff said Manta Rays often come around at night, which was a huge surprise.

The next morning, we got up early and went straight to the water. We thought we would try snorkeling, but we tried **kayaking** instead! We rented a boat for $15 (for a couple) and paddled to a tiny deserted island, where we found a swing set up in the shallow water. It was a beautiful spot, even if the swing was hard to use because of the waves! Kasun even scraped his hand on some coral while swimming, but the staff at the dive center helped him right away by putting vinegar on the wound.

💡 Tip:

The best activities are in the morning! We wore our swimsuits to breakfast so we could go straight to kayaking and snorkeling right after eating, making the most of our limited time.

See You Again, Siyam Olhuveli!

We loved our 24 hours at Sun Siyam Olhuveli, but our time in the Maldives was quickly coming to an end. It’s a huge, beautiful resort with something for everyone, whether you want to relax with no kids or go on a water adventure. We hope you will come back to the Maldives soon for another amazing adventure!
