Starting Our Chiang Rai Day
Hi, travel friends! Our family had an amazing day in Chiang Rai, Thailand, filled with beautiful cafes, cute sheep, and a cozy glamping stay. After a rainy night cleared some of the smoky air, we set out to explore Lalitta Cafe, Akha Farmville, and Camp Doi Chang. It was a fun, budget-friendly adventure that our kiddo loved. Come along for the ride!
Sipping Coffee at Lalitta Cafe
We kicked off our day at Lalitta Cafe, known as one of the most beautiful cafes in the world. The entrance fee was small, and we could use it toward drinks, though everything was a bit pricey. The cafe looked like a magical forest with waterfalls and misty views, perfect for photos. We went early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoyed the sunny, peaceful vibe. It felt like a fairy-tale spot!
💡 Tip:
Visit Lalitta Cafe at 8 a.m. to enjoy the serene atmosphere and take crowd-free photos.
Meeting Sheep at Akha Farmville
Next, we visited Akha Farmville, a special cafe with a farm full of adorable sheep! The ticket included a free drink, and we loved walking around to see the fluffy animals. Our little one was thrilled to meet baby sheep and watch them munch on carrots. The cafe had a great view of the mountains, and we relaxed with drinks while enjoying the peaceful farm setting.
Glamping at Camp Doi Chang
We ended our day at Camp Doi Chang, a glamping site with stunning sunset views. We bargained the price down to a great deal, including breakfast, and got a comfy tent with toys, snacks, and even a first-aid kit for kids. The campsite was quiet, with only our family there, making it feel like a private adventure. The cool night air was perfect for snuggling up in our tent.
💡 Tip:
Bargain for glamping rates at Camp Doi Chang in person during off-season to score a budget-friendly deal.
Keeping Meals Simple and Cheap
We saved money by grabbing breakfast and lunch from 7-Eleven, where we got grilled chicken, spicy Thai rice, and Korean-style fried rice for our kiddo. The food was hot, tasty, and super affordable. We ate at a shady spot with a nice view, making it a fun picnic. Chiang Rai’s 7-Eleven is a lifesaver for families looking to eat well on a budget.
Exploring Chiang Rai’s Hillsides
We drove through Ban Doi Chang’s hills, checking out campsites and glamping spots along the way. The area had beautiful fields, though some were burnt from the dry season. We took photos and videos, just like our little one loves to do, and enjoyed the quiet, scenic roads. It was a relaxing way to see more of Chiang Rai’s natural beauty.
💡 Tip:
Bring jackets for glamping in Chiang Rai, as nights can get chilly even in the dry season.
